CB South’s upcoming spring musical can be described with one word: pop. And no, not just because it features the royal repertoire of The Princess herself, Britney Spears, but the essence of the genre oozes out of the lighting, choreography, and the plot itself.
Prior to the show’s first live performance at Broadway Cares, I got a chance to speak with some members of the cast. Junior, Maeve Logue-Conroy gave her opinion on why live shows are so important, “I feel like this show thrives with an audience, so I’m really excited to see how people react to it!”
The Titan Thespians are extremely excited to bring this performance to life. This excitement was further brought to light when the OG Broadway Prince Charming, Justin Guarini, appeared at CB South to speak to the cast about his experience on the Broadway performance of Once Upon a One More Time.
He talked about his past in the entertainment industry and concluded with an exhilarating trick on how to memorize lines, which he performed with CB South’s very own Cinderella. Senior, Leanne Mathew, stuns opposite Sophomore Jake Barnhart (Prince Charming), both using their incredible talent in voice as well as humor. The captivation of the musical is tangible, made noticeable by the magnetic touch that each talented member of cast, crew, and pit brings to the stage.
This captivation is created through the combination of the intense lightwork, incredible choreography, uncontrollable laughter, and iconic songs. The hard work of the talented cast, crew, pit, and directing is put on display as CB South shows the familiar princess fairytales with a not-so-familiar ever after.
