Film Club

The Film Club is a newly brought back club at CB South with Co-Presidents Mina Mistry and Jordan Steinbrecher.

The Film Club was another of those which was lost to the Coronavirus pandemic, but it is finally coming back to a classroom near you.

The first club meeting was set just nearing the end of October where the club voted for its first movie, Happy Death Day (2017).

This first movie meeting was a great success where 12 people showed up and ate snacks while watching the film.

The club will host one meeting within the first two weeks of each month to bring a bit of spirit and excitement for the month ahead.

The theme of December is set to be a holiday themed movie and January will be animated movies.

February will be romance so don’t forget to bring your friends or partners.

March will be fantasy and have a laugh in April with the comedy genre.

May will be action to keep your adrenaline rushing right before finals.

And to wrap up the year will be June with a musical.

Each month brings a new genre with this month, December, being themed as ‘Holiday.’ The club will hold its second movie on December 10th.

At the meeting there will also be holiday themed treats to enjoy.

There will be posters set up in the hallways for you to vote on the next film, some options are Elf, Rise the Guardians, The Grinch, and so many more.

The flyers will each have a QR code to select one of the eight different options.

The flyer will also have a “suggestions” option, but keep in mind the movie must be rated PG13 or under, and it must be under two hours.

The club takes place in room C201 with our advisor, Ms. Tannous, right after school when the movie will typically begin playing around 2:45.

What to bring:

Watching a movie can be relaxing, though the school chairs can often be quite uncomfortable. Make sure to bring any pillows or blankets to improve the fun experience. If possible, we may travel to the library to watch the movies on the large screen.

With the use of the classroom, or possibly library, everyone must be respectful of the room and must clean up their mess. You are allowed to bring food, but please be respectful.

Also make sure to bring your friends; all are welcome to this fun club.

There are a few ways to sign up. The easiest is to find a QR code around the building on our flyers. There may also be a QR code at the bottom of this article.

You may also email Mina ([email protected]) or me ([email protected])

You are also not required to attend any meetings; you may also come and go as you please throughout the movie.

Don’t forget your popcorn and to silence your phones. I hope to see you there!
