A Season of New for CB South Girls Volleyball

It’s the season of new for the girl’s volleyball team this fall: new season, new coach, new uniforms. Last year marked the end of Coach Ulana Keer’s time here at South. Coach Kurt Godfrey, who has coached the boy’s volleyball team in the past, took her position this year, along with Brandon Johnson as assistant coach.

The team started practicing in August and hosted their annual volleyball camp, which is also open to younger students. Every year students arrive at tryouts, many of them not realizing how large of a commitment being a part of the team is. Girl’s volleyball requires dedication; most of August there are practices from 6-9pm, and during the school year they are not much shorter, usually running 6-8pm if the team works hard.

Their record right now is 3 and 2 in their league. The team is led by captains Erin Cleary (setter) and Sarah Poli (outside hitter) and there are seven seniors.

An exciting game to attend would be October 7th against Pennridge for Dig Pink in support of the Breast Cancer Side Out Foundation. South lost to Pennridge earlier in the season, but they are ready to fight for the win.

The South vs Pennridge Dig Pink game was named one of the Top 5 games to watch by the Intelligencer both because Coach Godfrey and Coach Johnson attended Pennridge and the explosion of pink add to the excitement of the night. Raffle baskets for Dig Pink were sold at every home game.

Another fun game the team would like a crowd in the stands for is senior night on October 15th against Souderton.

Admission to volleyball games are free, so there’s no reason not to come and join the fun!
